Frequently Asked Questions
Fabric Characteristics
Our fabrics are primarily made from carefully selected natural fibres such as linen, wool, cotton and chenille. Each fibre is chosen for its intrinsic qualities, natural beauty and suitability for both decorative and functional applications.
Detailed information for each reference, including composition, recommended use and specific characteristics, is provided in the corresponding fabric technical data sheet.
Most of our fabrics are available in standard width, although some references are offered in double width. This information is clearly specified in each fabric description and corresponding technical data sheet, to facilitate accurate fabric calculations according to the needs of each project.
Yes. Our fabrics are crafted from natural fibres and artisanal processes, which may result in subtle irregularities in texture or weave. These characteristics are not considered flaws, but rather an authentic expression of the material and an integral part of the character and individuality of each fabric.
Fabric Use & Applications
Yes. Our collections are designed to perform well in both upholstery and curtains, as well as for cushions, headboards, wall coverings, bed linens and other interior design projects. The most suitable recommended uses are detailed in each product specification to ensure the best possible result.
Yes. Many of our fabrics are perfectly suited for bedspreads, coverlets and certain decorative bedding elements, particularly those made from natural fibres such as linen, cotton or refined blends.
Natural fibres offer qualities that are especially valued in the bedroom:
- Breathability, allowing proper thermal regulation.
- Softness to the touch, which improves with use and washing.
- Absorbency, supporting comfort throughout the year.
- A serene and timeless aesthetic, ideal for elegant or wabi-sabi inspired interiors.
Pre-washed linen, for example, provides a relaxed drape and an organic texture that envelops the space with natural ease. Cotton offers a softer and slightly more structured feel, while certain blends add greater body for quilted bedspreads or decorative coverlets.
For bedding that comes into direct contact with the skin (such as duvet covers or pillowcases), we recommend selecting fabrics specifically suited to this use and considering the most appropriate weight and finish.
If you are developing a bedroom project, we will be delighted to advise you on selecting the most suitable fabric quality, taking into account the design aesthetic, the desired drape and the sensory experience you wish to create.
The bedroom is an intimate space. Choosing high-quality natural fibres not only elevates its aesthetic, but also enhances the sensory experience of rest.
Our fabrics are primarily conceived for residential and decorative projects, where noble materials, natural textures and a timeless aesthetic are prioritised. They are not designed for intensive or high-traffic use, such as hotels or restaurants. The recommended use for each fabric is specified in its corresponding product information, and our team is always available to provide guidance and support in selecting the most suitable option for each project.
Care and maintenance
Each fabric has its own specific care instructions, but in general we recommend professional cleaning and avoiding harsh products to preserve the natural beauty of the fibres. It is important to follow the care guidelines provided in each product’s technical data sheet. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Natural light is one of the most beautiful elements in an interior. It enhances textures, reveals the subtleties of colour and brings life to our natural fibres. However, as with all high-end textiles made from organic materials, prolonged exposure to sunlight may influence their appearance over time.
All natural fibres (such as linen, cotton, wool or silk) gradually respond to prolonged exposure to direct sunlight. This may result in a slight loss of intensity or a gentle evolution of colour over time.
At Serendipity Fabrics, we work with high-quality yarns and carefully selected dyeing processes to ensure excellent colour fastness. However, we recommend avoiding constant direct exposure to sunlight, particularly with darker or more intense tones.
In many cases, this subtle chromatic evolution becomes part of the fabric’s organic character, contributing to the natural patina so appreciated in refined interiors.
Neutral tones such as stone, sand or off-whites tend to show fewer visible changes than deeper colours such as anthracite, deep blues or terracotta.
In spaces with significant sun exposure (such as south-facing rooms or coastal homes), we recommend choosing soft, natural palettes that age gracefully.
Linen is one of the most resilient natural fibres. Its strength and durability make it an excellent choice for both curtains and upholstery.
However, as a plant-based fibre, it can be affected by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays, which may gently soften both the colour and the structure over time.
For linen curtains, we recommend the use of linings or interlinings to help protect the main fabric. For upholstery, it is advisable to avoid placing pieces in areas with constant direct sunlight in order to preserve the depth of colour and the integrity of the fibre.
Light and ethereal fabrics are designed to engage in dialogue with light. Their transparency allows natural brightness to be filtered, creating soft and enveloping atmospheres.
Due to their delicacy, it is preferable to use them in environments where the light is moderated. Layering them with heavier curtains not only enriches the aesthetic, but also helps preserve them over time.
Yes. The use of blinds, shutters, solar protection films or appropriate linings can significantly reduce the impact of direct sunlight.
These solutions are particularly recommended for:
- Large-format windows
- South- or west-facing spaces
- Homes in coastal or high-altitude areas
- Rooms exposed to intense sunlight for several hours a day
Careful planning ensures that natural light becomes an ally rather than a risk.
On the contrary. Many natural textiles develop character over time. In the same way that wood gains depth or leather acquires personality, noble fabrics can evolve gently with light and use.
This subtle transformation is part of their authenticity and contributes to the serene beauty that defines timeless interiors.
Orders and availability
Fabrics are generally sold by the metre, with a minimum order quantity of 1 metre. Fabric samples may be ordered separately to assist with selection prior to purchase.
Yes. We understand that most of our professional clients work with precise requirements and bespoke projects. For this reason, our fabrics can be ordered in decimal quantities, allowing the exact amount required to be selected, such as 1.10 metres, rather than being limited to whole metres only.
We work with both stock availability and made-to-order production. The available stock for each fabric is indicated at the time of purchase. In cases where a reference is not immediately available, the order can still be placed through the website and the client will be informed of the estimated delivery time prior to final processing.
Fabric samples
Of course. We offer a sampling service so you can appreciate the texture, colour, and drape of each fabric in your own space before placing an order. Samples can be requested directly from each product page. If you prefer, you may also order one metre of fabric to better assess the width and composition of striped or patterned designs.
We work exclusively with the highest quality natural fibres including linen, cotton, wool, chenille, and hemp, carefully selected for their durability, beauty, and responsible provenance.
Colour and natural variations
Yes. Some of our textiles, particularly those crafted from undyed natural fibres, may display subtle colour variations between batches. These gentle nuances are inherent to the natural origin of the fibre and the plant from which it is derived, and are part of the authentic character of each fabric.
Where applicable, this information is clearly detailed in the fabric specification. Should you require any clarification prior to placing an order, our team will be pleased to assist you.
As we work with natural fibres, subtle colour variations may occur between different production batches. These small differences are part of the inherent character of the material and are most noticeable in more natural shades. For projects that require exact colour continuity, we recommend ordering the required quantity in a single purchase or contacting our team, who will be happy to advise.
